Grandparent scam still going
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office is again warning residents of a scam that recently cost an elderly woman on Harbin Hill Road $6,400. The woman wired two checks — one for $2,800 and the other for $3,600 — to Haiti after an unknown caller said her grandson was jailed in Canada and needed money for bail. Variations of the so-called “grandparent scam” have been reported in Flathead County several times this year.
A man on Ridgewood Drive was arrested after allegedly throwing a table at his wife during an argument.
A woman was arrested for partner/family member assault on East Blanchard Road near Whitefish after an altercation with a man.
On Helena Flats Road, an out-of-control 13-year-old girl reportedly ran away from home. She later returned.
A woman on Braig Lane called after hearing noises in her garage. Deputies found her 53-year-old son in the garage and she later said he was allowed to be there.
A rifle was reported stolen on Pheasant Road.
Two dogs allegedly killed three chickens and a rabbit on McMannamy Draw.
Kalispell Police Department officers responded to a home on Northern Lights Boulevard after a man said he saw someone running away from the home after motion lights were activated outside.
A woman on Fifth Avenue West North hung up after calling 911 and stuttering. She later told a dispatcher she was “chanting prayers.”
A 58-year-old man was arrested for trespassing at an inn on U.S. 93 South.

Banging and yelling were reportedly heard in an apartment on Rosewood Drive. Two men found at the home said they were just having an argument and didn’t want to press charges.
A 28-year-old man was arrested for outstanding warrants after he was reported as suspicious for sitting in an idling vehicle on Eighth Avenue West.
Two people were injured after a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of North Main Street and West Washington Street.
