Gerald Charles Jerry McNutt, 73

Gerald Charles Jerry McNutt, 73, died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010, at his home in Kalispell. Jerry was born on Aug. 30, 1937, in Cut Bank, to James and Annette (Therrien) McNutt. He was raised in the Cut Bank area, where he graduated from Cut Bank High School in 1956. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army where he served from January 1957 until December 1962. He married Beverly Hecock on May 27, 1961, in Cut Bank. From 1968 until the early 1990s, Jerry worked for numerous grain companies, GTA, Columbia Grain Montana Merchandising, in a managing and merchandising capacity. Jerry worked for Wal-Mart from June of 1999 until 2009, where he made many friends. He was a member of the Elks Club of Great Falls, was a director on the Portland Grain Exchange, and was a member of the Volunteer Fire Department in Harlem. He enjoyed snow skiing, loved his dogs, was an accomplished cheesecake baker and fudge maker, and loved fishing and boating. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, James and Annette McNutt; and one brother, Merritt McNutt. He is survived by his daughter, Billiette Grigsby, of Huntsville, Texas; a son, Dave McNutt, of Kalispell; a brother, Gary McNutt, and his wife, Sherry, of Cut Bank; four grandchildren, Necola Grigsby, Charles Grigsby, Beth McNutt and Dalton McNutt; and three great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Interment will follow the service at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
