Man falls prey to Internet scam

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a man on Farm to Market Court near Whitefish who said he sent $2,900 to someone who had hacked his friend’s email account and requested the money.

Internet usage was the reason for an argument on Rhodes Draw where a man first said a woman was threatening to commit suicide. He later changed his story and said she had thrown pills at him.

The owner of a vehicle parked at a bar on Montana 35 in Evergreen reported that she loaned it to someone and had received information that the person she loaned it to was getting beat up by people trying to steal the vehicle. Deputies responded and arrested one man on a warrant.

Deputies were notified that the suspect of a theft at a Missoula casino was possibly in the Flathead County area.

On Montana 82, a caller accused a man of having more than 50 cats.

A woman on Willow Glen Drive was allowed to pick up several items from her mother’s home after her parents refused to allow her to do so because she had given them a bad check. The woman, who said she was mentally ill and using meth, was told not to return to her parent’s home.

Deputies responded to a report of a group of teenagers attempting to enter a vacant home on Park Avenue. They were turned over to their legal guardians after initially running away when deputies arrived.

On Lenwood Lane, a woman reported that her daughter’s ex-boyfriend called her 39 times and threatened to kill her family.

A man on Bitterroot Lane reported that he returned to his summer home and discovered it had been burglarized and that several items were missing. On North Fork Road, the owner of a cabin reported that about $500 worth of possessions were stolen.

The driver of a motorcycle seen traveling through an intersection despite a red light was later issued a warning by a deputy.

A woman on Montana 35 said her boss filed a protection order against her.

Deputies arrested a man after he allegedly assaulted a woman on First Avenue Northwest in Hungry Horse by hitting her and pulling her hair twice.

A woman was caught shoplifting at a business on U.S. 2 East.

Someone stole car parts from a shed on Shady Lane.

A man was arrested for partner/family member assault after beating on the windows of a woman’s home on Klondyke Loop in Somers.

A Kalispell Police officer took a report from a woman near Woodland Park who reported that a man waved a metal pipe at her after she asked him to stop bothering a group of ducks.

Suspicious activity was reported on Merganser Drive where a woman said she received a phone call from someone claiming to be an electric company employee who asked her to come outside. Noticing her electricity was still on, she refused. Later, an employee at the company told her no one had called.

A man on Liberty Street reportedly locked himself out of his apartment and asked for police assistance.

A nurse at a medical facility on Sunny View Lane called after finding a spoon with some kind of residue on it in a patient’s belongings.

Fraud was reported on Seventh Avenue East North where a woman accused her sister of stealing her Social Security number and using it to open bank accounts.

A group of teenage boys left a parking lot before an officer arrived to investigate a report that they had refused requests to leave the property.

On Third Avenue East, a man reported that someone slashed the tires of his Pontiac Grand Am.

A 15-year-old girl was counseled at a home on South Woodland Drive after a man reported she was “out of control.”

Harassment was reported on Kenway Drive where a woman said her neighbor accused her of trespassing and yelled and cursed at her.

License plates were stolen from a vehicle parked on 10th Avenue West. The suspect apparently left a different plate at the scene.

Someone stole a bicycle from a garage on Third Avenue East.

A disgruntled caller on Fifth Avenue East complained that neighbors were yelling loudly while searching for their dogs and said that they lose them several times a month.

On Fifth Avenue East, a caller said someone rang his or her doorbell and then ran away.

Three men were accused of harassing employees at a business on U.S. 93 South as they attempted to walk to their vehicle. One of the men, who was reportedly intoxicated, claimed he needed a ride so he could ship out to Afghanistan.

The owner of a vehicle on Seventh Avenue East discovered a backpack missing. A flashlight was found a short distance away.

Another bag was stolen from a vehicle on Eighth Avenue East, along with some change.

Harassment was reported on Sunny View Lane where a woman said she was receiving unwanted text messages from her husband’s best friend’s ex-girlfriend.

The Montana Highway Patrol responded to a rock slide on Montana 209 near Bigfork along with road workers who were still clearing rocky debris Friday at about 5:45 p.m. The slide was reported at about 3:45 p.m. near mile marker three.
