James E. Cuffe, 84

James E. Cuffe died on March 23, 2011, in Casa Grande, Ariz., after an extended illness, with his wife of 25 years, Beverly, at his side. 

He was born on July 15, 1926, to Theodore and Alberta Cuffe in Whitefish.

James worked for the postal service for 32 years as a rural mail carrier. He served as a volunteer on the Whitefish Fire Department. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Whitefish Moose Lodge.

 James was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Alberta Cuffe; his first wife, Elaine Cloud; daughter, Peggy Martin; and grandson; Kimberly Martin.

  James is survived by his three children from his first marriage to Elaine "Pete" Bailey, daughter, Patti Cuffe Harmon and her two children, Jackie Harmon Townsend and husband, David, and their three sons, great-grandchildren Britton, Wyatt and Logan of Claremore, Okla., Josh Harmon and wife, Dani, and their two sons, great-grandchildren Tanner and Jordan of Whitefish, son, Ted Cuffe and wife, Jacquie, and their three children, Heather Cuffe Johnson and her two children, great-granddaughters Shae and Mackenzie of Camirillo, Calif., Jayn Cuffe of Kalispell, James “Doug” Cuffe and wife, Michelle, of Kalispell, son, Mick Cuffe and wife, Lanette, and their two children, Lindsey Cuffe Jordan and husband, Jon, and great-grandson Connor, and Matt Cuffe and wife, Kelly, and their two children, great-grandsons Dawson and Ramsey, daughter, Peggy Martin and five children, Dean Martin and wife, Clare, and their child, great-granddaughter Madlyane of Youngsville, La., Lisa Martin Sistrunk and her daughter, Anna, of Lafayette, La., granddaughter, Lynda Martin Guillory and husband, Pat, and their four children, great-grandsons, Joshua, Jacob, Joseph, and great-granddaughter Hannah of The Woodlands, Texas, granddaughter, Karol Ellis and family of Louisville, Texas, and grandson, Scott O’Dell of Seattle.

Upon his death, James’ final gift was to donate his body to science.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
