Christina “Riley” Polumbus has been hired as the new public relations manager at Whitefish Mountain Resort, replacing Donnie Clapp. She began the job March 30.

Polumbus, of Steamboat Springs, Colo., brings more than nine years of experience in public relations to the Whitefish resort. Most of her experience is in the mountain resort industry.

“Her experience working with media on local, national and international levels will add depth to our talented marketing team,” Resort President Dan Graves said.

Since 2007 Polumbus was the communications specialist for Yampa Valley Medical Center and owned a public relations consulting business serving a variety of clients in Steamboat Springs.

From 2003 to 2007 she was the public relations director of the Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association, where she was responsible for all media relations promoting Steamboat Springs during the non-ski season months and increased media coverage for summer events and activities across North America.

Polumbus began her career in public relations at the Steamboat Ski Area, where she was the public relations coordinator for the 2001-02 and 2002-03 ski seasons.

In addition to her employment, Polumbus was very active in the Steamboat Springs community. For six years she was a volunteer for Routt County Search & Rescue, and in addition to being an active member of the field team also served as its public information officer.

Polumbus is an accomplished writer and has been published in The Denver Post, Steamboat Today, Mountain Flyer Magazine, and Steamboat Magazine. She received a degree in English literature from Denison University in 1993.

She is the sister of Nick Polumbus, Whitefish Mountain Resort director of marketing and sales.

In addition to telemark skiing, Polumbus enjoys biking, hiking and playing ice hockey.
