James D. Urquhart, 84

James D. Urquhart passed away at home in Santa Rosa, Calif., at the age of 84, on Sept. 28, 2010.

He was born in Kooskia, Idaho, on April 24, 1926. He was raised in Kalispell. He graduated from Flathead County High School in June of 1944.

He joined the Air Force in August 1944, and was discharged in 1947. He attended Montana State College in 1947. He transferred to the University of Wisconsin and graduated in 1951. While at U of Wisconsin, James was a champion long distance runner. He graduated from U of W with a degree in journalism.

James married Betty Lou Eck in Anaconda.

He worked for General Electric in Schenectady, N.Y. He transferred to San Francisco and changed jobs to become a stock broker for Merrill Lynch. James and his family lived in San Rafael, Calif. He retired in 1992.

He is survived by his wife, Betty, son, Curtis, of Santa Rosa; daughter, Gail, of Morgan Hill, Calif.; grandsons, Ryan Thompson and Sean Thompson, of Santa Rosa; and granddaughter, Victoria Thompson; and a brother, Richard Urquhart, of McMinnville, Ore.
