Marjorie Jean White, 88

Marjorie Jean White, 88, died peacefully Wednesday, April 20, 2011, in Mena, Ark., of a short illness.

Marjorie was born on July 29, 1922, to John Athol and Edith Sarah Kakela Kelly in Lewistown.

Her childhood years were spent in Butte, as the oldest of four children. Marjorie graduated from Butte High School and attended Bremerton Business School.

On April 5, 1942, she married Edward C. White and together they raised three children. Married 52 years, they lived in Kalispell, Port Orchard, Wash., and Adak, Alaska. Marjorie spent the first part of her marriage as a homemaker and then worked for the Bureau of Reclamation at the Hungry Horse Dam.

Marjorie enjoyed hiking, reading biographies, compiling scrapbooks, and following current events.

Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Clayton Kelly; and her sister, Evelyn Johnson.

She is survived by her children, Carol J. Smith and Ted of Mena, Ark., John E. White and Barbara, and Gil A. White of Milton, Wash.; her sister, Virginia Dennehy, and Ed of Butte; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held on April 30, at the C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery in Kalispell.

Arrangements are entrusted to Hall Funeral Service in Mena.
