The city of Kalispell will host an open house Monday on the Airport Master Plan update.

The meeting will go from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The study, mostly funded by federal money, will seek public comment on alternatives at Kalispell City Airport.

Stelling Engineers is conducting the study. Exhibits will be on display Monday for the public to view.

Stelling will incorporate public comments and then eliminate some of the alternatives. Once that is done, the firm will do an in-depth study on the remaining four or five alternatives, Stelling spokesman Jeff Walla said.

The original Airport Master Plan in 1999 recommended an upgrade of the airport at the south end of Kalispell to accommodate larger aircraft. It also recommended the runway be widened from 60 to 75 feet and rotated 10 degrees to accommodate larger aircraft.

The Airport Master Plan will describe short-, medium- and long-term plans for the airport, Walla has said.

The last Airport Master Plan meeting in January focused on the types of aircraft that use the airport.

Monday’s meeting will be held at City Hall, 201 First Ave. E.
