Mildred Ruth Swenson DeJong, 96

Mildred Ruth Swenson DeJong, 96, passed away on Tuesday, April 19, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Home.

She was born on Nov. 10, 1914, to George and Edith Swenson in Oak Park, Ill.

She was a great concert pianist in her youth and taught at the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago. Mildred moved to Bremerton, Wash., in the mid 1970s, and to Kalispell in 1985. 

She is survived by four of her six children, Penny Leatzow of Kalispell, Wesley Taylor and wife, Charlotte, of Pahrump, Nev., George Taylor and wife, Colleen, of Nashville, Tenn., and Donald Taylor of Libby; 13 of 15 of her grandchildren; and a large number of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren scattered throughout the United States. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made on Mildred’s behalf to Kalispell CASA for Kids, 1203 U.S. 2 W., Suite 39, Kalispell, MT 59901.
