Robert D. Germann, 85

Robert D. Germann, 85, passed away April 24, 2011, in Kalispell.

Robert was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Philadelphia, to George and Katherine (Horan) Germann. He was raised and graduated from high school in Philadelphia.

In 1949 he married Elizabeth Germann. They were divorced in 1974 after 24 years of marriage. He then married Rose Germann in 1976. Rose passed in 1998 after 22 years.

Robert was a World War II veteran and served from April 15, 1943, to March 7, 1946. He received the American Service Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal and the WWII Victory Medal. He was a navigator on the B-29 bombers.

Robert had worked for several Insurance agencies throughout his working career.

He was active in the Kalispell Senior Center and enjoyed woodworking, hiking, mountain climbing, cross country skiing, crossword puzzles and dancing.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, George and Katherine Germann; and a son, Edward Germann.

He is survived by his loving companion, Arlene Kjos; children, Dave Germann and wife Denise of Kalispell, and Carol Matarese and husband Tony of Old Saybrook, Conn.; sister, Marge Simione, of Lafayette Hill, Pa.; grandchildren, Wyatt and Grant Germann of Kalispell, Jesse Germann of Los Angeles, and McCain Germann of Seattle.

A memorial Mass will be said at 12:10 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church.
