The Glacier All-Stars ended an impressive run at the Babe Ruth Pacific Northwest Regional Tournament for 13-year-olds Saturday with a 10-8 loss to Bend, Ore.

Glacier finished the tournament with a 3-2 record that took it all the way to the semifinal game.

"I am proud of them," coach Brent Wetsch said after the loss. "They battled hard. They were up, they were down, they were up. ... It was a hard-fought game either way."

The Glacier All-Stars - comprised of boys from Columbia Falls, Whitefish and Bigfork - loaded the bases in the final inning, but Wetsch said an incredible catch by a Bend outfielder ended the scoring opportunity and the game.

"The boys fought hard, worked hard and played as a team," Wetsch said. "That's how you get to these divisionals."

Glacier started the tournament with three straight wins, beating Alberta 5-2, a team from Seattle 12-5 and Rock Springs, Wyo. 15-9.

The team won Montana State Babe Ruth 13U Tournament title with a 5-4 win over the Bitterroot All-Stars on July 23.
