Shotgun deters pair of intruders

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office fielded a report from a woman on Canyon Road in Hungry Horse who said she scared away two would-be intruders by cocking a shotgun while standing near the door. Two men were on her porch trying to get in, she said, but they left when she chambered a shotgun shell.

A deputy ticketed the owner of a small dog that reportedly attacked a woman on One Way near Columbia Falls at about 6:30 p.m. Monday. The woman said she fended off the bull terrier with a shovel. She wasn’t injured.

Assault was alleged by a man on Montana 35 in Bigfork who said he was assaulted after speaking to another man’s girlfriend at a bar Monday night.

A 14-year-old boy on Gray Lane called 911 Monday at about 5 p.m. and said a man who lives nearby stole his hat and wouldn’t give it back. He later called to say he didn’t need law enforcement after all.

A man on Wildebeest Lane in Marion complained that his girlfriend wouldn’t leave his house despite his repeated requests.

On Montana 35, an apparently intoxicated man called to report that he ordered teeth but that the wrong set was delivered.

A caller on Wishart Road in Columbia Falls reported fraud after learning someone was using his or her credit card in Texas.

Nothing appeared to be missing from a storage unit on U.S. 93 South after the owner reported that someone had removed hinges to gain access to it.

Another burglary of a storage unit was reported on Whitefish Stage Road.

Criminal mischief was reported on Foothill Road after a woman said someone has been stealing checks and bills from her mailbox.

A woman on West Reserve Drive said Monday morning that two men had stolen a computer and cellphone from her home. She later alleged that she might have been sexually assaulted as well.

A mailbox was apparently stolen from a home on Cobbler Way.

Gasoline reportedly was siphoned from a truck parked on East Reserve Drive.

Someone broke the back window out of a Jeep parked on Sleepy Hollow Road.

Extra patrols were requested on Harmony Road after a property manager found two very intoxicated males inside a rental unit that has been vacant for years.

Someone was seen attempting to steal scrap metal from a shop on East Oregon Street Monday afternoon.

A 16-year-old girl on Ridgewood Drive accused her mother of attacking her Monday at about 4:15 p.m.

A home on Egan Slough Road was burglarized Monday, according to the owner.
