Platke, Doorn, Porch help Montana win Cup
Reed Platke of Whitefish swept his singles match last Tuesday to help Montana's boys win the Montana-Alberta Junior Ryder Cup in Lethbridge, Alberta.
Ryan Porch of Kalispell won his singles match 2-1 on the final day to clinch the Cup for Montana.
Arthur Doorn of Whitefish came back from a deficit on the front nine to grab the back nine point in his singles match to add to the winning tally.
Porch won every match he played.
Montana finished with a 21.5 total to Alberta's 14.5.
In girls action, Alberta retained the Junior Ryder Cup, 31-5.
Tiegan Avery, 13, of Kalispell halved her singles match against a very good 15-year old from Alberta, winning the only points for Montana on the final day of singles matches.
The Montana-Alberta Junior Ryder Cup is held annually and alternates between the Lethbridge Country Club in Alberta and Whitefish Lake Golf Club in Whitefish.
The Montana team is selected from the MSGA State Junior event each year.
