Floyd Virgil Gordon, 75

Floyd Virgil Gordon, 75, died Aug. 18, 2011, at Kalispell Regional Medical Center in Kalispell from natural causes. 

Floyd was born in Summerfield, Ohio, on June 28, 1936, one of nine children of the late Fred and Clara King Gordon. 

Floyd attended schools in Summerfield and joined the Navy in 1954. He saw service in Vietnam and was serving duty as a submarine ordinance officer when he retired in 1974.

After continuing as a civilian defense employee at McClellan Air Force Base, he retired again in 1991. Floyd and M. Carole then moved to Fortine, where they built their ranch.

He was a skilled craftsman and was employed by many Tobacco Valley residents on various building projects. Floyd was a gun collector, reloader and avid hunter. He was a member of the NRA. He will be missed.

Floyd was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Gordon; and four sisters, Lucy Gordon Bates, Marcella Gordon Parsons, Wilda Gordon Hughes and Thelma Gordon Lee.

Survivors include his wife, M. Carole Gordon of Fortine; a son, Daniel Gordon of California; two daughters, Gaylene Kindt of Kahului, Hawaii, and Darlene Watson of Sacramento, Calif.; a granddaughter, Heidie Lish of Columbia Falls; and three sisters, Ruth Ann Gordon Fogle of Caldwell, Ohio, and Sula Gordon Johnson and Lola Gordon Kelsey of Forth Worth, Texas.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 23, at the Chapel of Praise in Eureka. Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Eureka.
