Bulldogs blow out Stevensville

WHITEFISH - It might be hard for the Whitefish girls to top this offensive showing.

Megan Danczyk scored four goals and assisted on two others as the Bulldogs opened the 2011 season with a 12-3 nonconference Class A soccer victory over Stevensville on Friday.

Samantha Dittman scored twice and assisted on a goal and Mackenzie Thomas also scored two goals.

Anna Carpenter, Madison Grady, Kayla Simmes and Mackenzie Thomas all scored once.

Michaela Millette led in assists with three.

"It was a great team effort," first-year coach Wendy Farrens said. "Even the assists came from all over the field. It was awesome."

Whitefish scored seven times in the first half. The Bulldogs outshot Stevensville 36-17.

WHITEFISH - Sam Donaldson turned a hat trick and Elior Rossi, a foreign exchange student from Paris, France, scored two goals and assisted on another as Whitefish blew out Stevensville in the nonconference opener for both schools.

Also accounting for goals were Mark Stormes, who got the ball rolling in the eighth minute of play, and Michael Reimer.

Whitefish led 4-0 at the half.

Whitefish outshot Stevensville 20-3 on goal.

"It was a great start for the season," Whitefish senior defender Joseph Perry said.

"It should be a good year for Whitefish."

Perry missed the game with an ankle injury.

"It was disappointing to sit out my first game as a captain," he said.

Perry is expected to make his season debut next week - 4 p.m. on Friday at Billings Central.
