Bigfork boys soccer coach Keith Koslosky defined his team's conference opener against Columbia Falls (1-1, 1-0)with a single word - heartbreaker.

The Vikings fell at home to the Wildcats 2-1 Tuesday after a 1-0 halftime lead melted away late in the match.

Columbia Falls' Talen Stringer scored in the 73rd minute and was followed promptly by Caleb Baumann, who netted the go-ahead goal six minutes later.

The Vikings had held the lead for much of the game after Austin Gordon scored in the 22nd minute on an assist from Matt Killian.

"We gave up too many corners late," Koslosky said. "You could feel the momentum change.

"(Columbia Falls) stayed in the game and fought to the very end. My hat's off to them."

Koslosky said he was happy with the play of his relatively young team. Three freshmen were in the starting lineup and two more entered later in the game. Only one senior, Caleb Mathwig, played for the Vikings.

"We had players playing above their years and experience," he said.

Dillon Hilling had six saves for Bigfork.

"He was just outstanding," Koslosky said.
