Man's sentence suspended for criminal endangerment
A 36-year-old Hungry Horse man was given a five-year suspended sentence Nov. 23 in Flathead District Court after having previously pleaded guilty to a felony charge of criminal endangerment.
Adam Chapman also was ordered to pay restitution of $3,127.57, a fine of $1,000, a public defender fee of $800, a prosecution fee of $100, a surcharge of $160 and a supervision fee to be determined by his probation officer.
Chapman initially faced two misdemeanor charges of partner or family member assault and misdemeanor charges of obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct along with the felony in relation to a Jan. 13, 2011, incident.
According to court documents, Chapman was arrested at a restaurant in Columbia Heights after an employee reported he was screaming obscenities into his cell phone for between 15 and 20 minutes.
When asked by Chapman to call his wife, a sheriff’s deputy made contact with Chapman’s ex-girlfriend, who told the deputy she was on her way to the hospital after being beaten by Chapman.
The woman stated that Chapman pushed her into a wall and dresser, head-butted her and choked her.
