| December 5, 2011 6:58 PM

Larry “Pops” Ryerson, 76, passed away Dec. 2, 2011, at his home in Olney, of natural causes

Larry was born Jan. 18, 1935, to Hartwick William and Alphonsine Vallee Ryerson, and had many brothers and sisters. He was born and grew up in South Paris, Maine.

In his 30s he moved to Montana and worked for many years as a sawyer at Storkson’s Mill in Olney, and also was a logger for many years.

On Dec. 11, 1971, he married his loving wife Alice. They got to spend almost 40 wonderful years married to each other.

All together they had 15 beautiful children, Larry Jr., Tim, Becky, Kris, Brenda, Kim, Rae Rae and Bobbie, Teddy, Mike, Phyllis, Ronnie, Joe, Tommy and Tracy. Along with them, Pops had 73 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved and adored very much.

In 1992 Pops retired but continued to play outdoors by cutting down trees for firewood, hunting for bucks, fishing for all types of fish, picking shaggy manes and morel mushrooms, shooting grouse and drinking a Busch beer. When he was indoors Pops loved old Western movies, but mostly enjoyed listening to Merle Haggard music and doing his puzzles.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.

Larry is survived by his loving wife, Alice; and all his children and grandchildren. He will be very missed and always thought of.

The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Kalispell Regional Medical Center, The Rock and Glacier Medical for showing love and support to Larry and Alice and family during our time of need.

A celebration of life service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 7, at the Olney Fire Department.
