A 43-year-old Olney man pleaded not guilty to three felonies and a misdemeanor Thursday during Flathead District Court.

Steven Boyd is charged with felony counts of burglary, kidnapping and criminal possession of dangerous drugs as well as a misdemeanor charge of partner or family member assault stemming from a Nov. 9 incident.

According to charging documents, Boyd entered a home on Patrick Creek Road where a woman and her boyfriend were sleeping and began yelling at the woman. He allegedly took her cell phone and pulled the phone cord from the land line so no one could call the police.

The woman attempted to go downstairs and Boyd allegedly pushed her to keep her from leaving since he wanted her to leave with him. The woman went with him and told her boyfriend to call the police after they left.

After going to a gas station and returning to Boyd’s vehicle, which he had parked approximately one mile from the woman’s residence so he could sneak up on the home, they drove off and were intercepted by deputies from the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman’s cell phone and a bent fork wrapped up in a glove were found on Boyd when he was taken to the Flathead County Detention Center.

A search of his vehicle turned up a white powdery substance believed to be methamphetamine as well as a loaded 9-millimeter Luger handgun.

If convicted on all charges, Boyd could face between two and 36 years in jail and a fine of between $100 and $150,500.
