Eureka residents got good news about the city’s water supply after samples were tested at the state laboratory in Helena.

“This morning at 9 we got the news that the ban was lifted,” Mayor Ethel White said on Thursday.

After people were seen on top of Eureka’s new auxiliary water tank, the city on Tuesday told residents not to use water for any purposes.

The ban was changed to a restriction on consuming water on Wednesday after most samples tested pure except for one test that was suspected to be an anomaly.

Without 100 percent clearance on water reports, the city completed a second round of testing. The newest results lifted the restriction.

White said a local resident flew those samples to Helena to speed up the process.

“He didn’t charge us a thing,” White said. “The people of Eureka were so good. Everybody worked together.”
