Glacier whips Big Sky
MISSOULA - The Glacier Wolfpack rolled to a 73-6 Class AA wrestling dual victory over host Missoula Big Sky on Thursday.
The Wolfpack stopped in Missoula on its way to the Mining City Duals in Butte.
"Big Sky has some solid kids. They're going to be tough in the future," said Glacier coach Mark Fischer.
"But this was the perfect match for us. I think tonight was good momentum. We have some young kids that are getting to wrestle varsity for the first time and they're getting to see what momentum does," he said.
"The kids really came out and were excited to wrestle. We had very good senior leadership, which caused the young guys to step up for us," Fischer said.
He complimented the efforts of Jackson Barber (140) and Jake Tudahl (215).
"(Barber) just wrestled really tough against a tough kid. I'm really proud of the way he went out," Fischer said.
As for Tudahl, he weighed in at 189, but bumped up a weight class to 215 and took on one of Big Sky's tougher kids.
"He looked really good out there," the coach said.
As for the Mining City Duals, the Wolfpack opens at 10 a.m. today against Billings West. Also in the Glacier pool are Columbia Falls and Dillon.
"We'll see what happens. We don't know what we're made of yet, but we will find out," Fischer said.
Dual results were not available.
