Flathead to honor state basketball champs

 The 2001 Flathead High School girls basketball team, which won the Class AA state championship, will be honored during halftime ceremonies Saturday of the Bravettes home basketball opener against Libby.

Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m.

All members of the championship team, which will be celebrating its 10th anniversary, have been invited to participate in this night of special recognition.

The Bravettes defeated Billings West 52-47 at the University of Montana’s Dahlberg Arena on Dec. 1, 2001.

FHS also won state in 2000.

Players on the 2001 team were: Stephanie Dotson, Amanda McCready, Jenni Shandorf, Valissa Sneck, Katy Svennungsen, Lisa Walterskirchen, Ashley Bradford, Katie Holliday, Becky O’Neil, Halladay Quist, Katie Regier, Tess Saunier, Jyndia Schiable and Tiffani Wilson.

Jackie Bodfish was the manager and Matt Vasquez the trainer.

Dennis Latimer was the head coach. Assistant coaches were Gary Moen, Fred Febach, Doug Hashley and Kim Elliott.

A reception for the team will be held after the game.
