BIGFORK - Ian Lorang scored 24 of his game-high 28 points in the first half as the Bigfork Vikings rolled past visiting Eureka 88-56 in a District 7B boys basketball matchup on Thursday.

"He came out and had an outstanding night. He kind of sparked us in the first half and everyone kind of followed his lead," said Viking coach Kurt Paulson.

All in all, five Vikings were in double figures. Austin Jordt had 16 points, 10 assists and six rebounds. Dillon Fraley added 11 points and Tyler Kirby and Cody Dopps contributed 10 each.

For Eureka, Ryan Holder and Tanner Blankers scored 16 points each.

Bigfork (2-1 overall, 1-0 league) had to make a defensive change early on, however.

"We tried to press them and that turned out horrible, so we started playing man-to-man and my kids did that very well," the coach said.

Bigfork outscored Eureka 22-13 in the first quarter, then built that to a 49-22 advantage at half.

"Very good first quarter. It kind of set the tone for the rest of the game. We had an excellent week of practice and that carried over," Paulson said.

"Jordt played a nice game," the coach said.

He also added compliments to guard Chris Landon, who came off the bench to grab seven rebounds.

The Lions were right in the thick of things during the second half, but by then it was too late.

Bigfork is at Plains on Saturday while Eureka heads to Ronan on Saturday.
