Deputies set up nearby after shooting threats
A 50-year-old Kalispell man was arrested on charges of driving under the influence and partner or family member assault after an incident Wednesday.
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report at 9:49 a.m. that a man showed up at the door of a home on Browns Gulch Road smelling of alcohol and making threats. According to police logs, the man said he would be back and that “it won’t be good.”
Deputies began staging nearby when it was reported that the man said during a phone call — not to law enforcement — that he had a gun and threatened to have a shoot-out with any police. They were able to locate and watch the man.
He eventually called the woman again, and while speaking calmly asked her to come pick him up and take him home so he didn’t get arrested for driving under the influence.
At that point officers approached the man, later identified as Richard Weimer. When they approached, they saw one of his hands was empty and the other was holding a beer can.
Weimer was then arrested and transported to the Flathead County Detention Center.
