Boys basketball: Krell scores 31 points in Polson's win over Hamilton

POLSON - Tyler Krell had a season-best 31 points to go with 10 rebounds as Polson rolled to a 75-62 Class A nonconference boys basketball victory over Hamilton on Saturday.

Krell was 14-for-16 from the field. His best quarter offensively was the fourth when he tallied 11 points.

Polson (2-1) outrebounded Hamilton 40-14.

"I'm happy with the first 2 1/2 quarters," Polson coach Brad Pluff said.

"We got sloppy in the second half."

Zach Camel also reached double-figure scoring for the victors. He had 12 points.

Hamilton was led by Brad Palin's 17 points.

Polson hosts Frenchtown on Thursday in Northwestern A play.

COLUMBIA FALLS - Anthony Correa scored 27 points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds as Columbia Falls cruised to an easy Northwestern A victory over Frenchtown.

Columbia Falls (2-2, 1-0), led 21-6 after eight minutes of play.

"The focus tonight was play better together as a team, share the basketball," Columbia Falls coach Cary Finberg said.

"They did that."

Parker Johnson added 12 points for Columbia Falls.

Austin Blank scored 15 points for Frenchtown.

PLAINS - Bigfork blew by Plains to open District 7B play.

Bigfork led 47-8 at the half and held Plains to single-digit scoring in all four quarters.

Jackson Boese had a team-high 14 points for Bigfork (3-1, 2-0). Ian Lorang was next with 12 and Ryan Hayes had 11.

Bigfork has a nonconference outing at Class A Whitefish on Thursday.

RONAN - Marcus Hungerford scored 20 points and Robbie Gauthier chipped in 12 as the Ronan Chiefs defeated visiting Eureka at the Ronan Event Center.

Four Lions scored double figures - Ryan Holder (15), Tanner Blankers (13), Tanner Peterson (12) and Bryton Guckenberg (12) - but the Chiefs built a 48-38 halftime advantage and were up 64-50 after three quarters.
