Wolfpack takes 2 from Bulldogs

WHITEFISH - Glacier had four players in double figures and used a fast start to upend Whitefish 82-57 on Friday in a nonconference boys basketball contest.

Glacier (2-0) jumped on top 29-11 in the opening period and never looked back.

The Wolfpack led 42-21 at the half.

"Glacier kind of pounded on us on the boards," Whitefish coach Mark Casazza said.

"They started off the first quarter lighting it up."

Glacier had four treys in the first eight minutes of play and totaled five for the game.

Whitefish had seven.

Ryan Edwards led a balanced Glacier offense with 17 points.

Logan Iverson followed with 14. Evan Epperly checked in with 13 and Kyle Griffith had 12.

Whitefish bounced back with a good second half, scoring 36 points.

The Bulldogs (1-2) were led by Gage Vasquez, 21 points, and Jake Slaybaugh, 14.

Class A Whitefish continues with nonconference action on Tuesday with a home contest versus Class AA Flathead.

Glacier is back on the court today at Great Falls High for a Class AA nonconference test.

WHITEFISH - Cassidy Hashley scored 13 points and Rachel Chery added 12 as Glacier (1-1) posted a 47-8 victory over Whitefish (0-3) in nonconference girls basketball play Friday evening.

Class AA Glacier enjoyed a big edge offensively in the first half, leading 32-2 at the break.

The Wolfpack dominated the boards with 23 offensive rebounds in the first half and 17 more in the second.

Nicole Heavirland also reached double-digit scoring for Glacier, netting 10 points.

Ashlee Brewer went 4-for-4 free throw shooting and finished with four points for Class A Whitefish.

Glacier entertains Great Falls High today, 4:30 p.m.

Whitefish is off until Tuesday when the Bulldogs entertain Flathead, 6 p.m.
