<p>Knife River Corp. continues to clean up its 40-acre property between Whitefish Stage Road and a spur of the railroad line that runs in Kalispell. Flathead County Economic Development Authority wants to purchase the gravel pit property to develop a new shovel-ready industrial park with rail access over the next 18 months, using a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Economic Development Administration. The development authority has indicated that it hopes to be able to close on a sale by year's end.</p>

<p>Duane Dierenfield, owner/installer of New Creation, Inc. looks over the floor he recently finished installing at the Flathead Animal Shelter with Director Cliff Bennett and Animal Keeper Niki Barton on Wednesday morning in Kalispell. The shelter got a grant for the floor for $19,900 dollars from The Petco Foundation for the new floors. The floors in one bay are complete, Dierenfield is scheduled to start work tearing out the old flooring in the second bay on Monday morning.</p>
