For the third year in a row, Plum Creek is donating to food banks in the area that continue to struggle with impacts from the recession.

The company on Tuesday presented a total of $35,000 in checks to seven community food banks that serve Northwest Montana, including the Columbia Falls Food Bank, the Flathead Food Bank, Libby Food Pantry, North Valley Food Bank, Northwest Montana Veterans Stand Down and Food Pantry, the Tobacco Valley Food Pantry and the Westshore Community Assistance Program.

“These are tough times for many of our neighbors. Some families are still struggling to make ends meet,” said Tom Ray, the company’s vice president for Northwest Resources and Manufacturing.

“The food banks are serving a critical need in our community and deserve our support. We hope our donations this week will mean a happier holiday for many community residents.”
