Lake County District Judge Deborah “Kim” Christopher has announced that she intends to seek re-election to the office of District Judge of the 20th Judicial District of the State of Montana.

“The announcement is being made at this time in order that attorneys considering filing for that office will know the incumbent will be seeking re-election,” Christopher said in a news release.

Christopher first was elected in 2000 as district judge in the 20th Judicial District for Lake and Sanders counties. She was re-elected in 2006.

Prior to serving as judge, Christopher was Lake County attorney, first elected in 1994 and re-elected in 1998.

She was Lake County’s first woman district judge as well as the first woman to serve as county attorney.

Earlier in her career, Christopher was commissioned into the U.S. Army after law school as an Airborne captain in the Judge Advocate General’s Corps.
