Fred L. Lehman, 78

Fred L. Lehman, 78, passed away on Jan. 28, 2011, at his home in Missoula, from lung cancer.

 He was born June 12, 1932, in Great Falls to Fred O. and Myrtle E. Lehman. He graduated from Flathead County High School in Kalispell where he was an All State Football player. He graduated from the University of Montana in 1954 and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity.

He and Margaret Lovell were married in 1953. While he attended college, he worked for the Anaconda Co. and Intermountain Lumber Co., and also built his present home.

He received his accounting degree in 1974. His professional career was as a CPA in his own firm, Lehman & Associates. After retiring and selling his practice, he spent the next 10 years working for Loren Randall during tax seasons.

 He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Missoula Country Club. He enjoyed fishing, particularly on Rock Creek. In the fall he never missed a game of Grizzly football. During the last five years, he and Sharon traveled extensively.

 He donated countless hours to a variety of organizations including Missoula Cancer Society, Casa Por Cristo and Habitat for Humanity.

 He was preceded in death by his parents; and his first wife of 50 years, Margaret L. Lovell.

 Survivors include his wife, Sharon Balison, of the family home in Missoula; his son, Bruce, and wife, Trish, of Auburndale, Fla.; two daughters, Gwen Kido of Star, Idaho, and Denise and husband Chris Henretta of Dallas; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

 Services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 4, at the University Congregational Church, 405 University Ave. in Missoula.

 Arrangements are under the direction and care of the Whitesitt Funeral Home.
