Nadine Edna Pearcy, 93

| February 3, 2011 2:00 AM

Nadine passed peacefully in her daughter’s embrace Jan. 30, 2011, “leaving this world to join God and her mother.”

Born March 20, 1917, she witnessed all the world’s changes. During World War II, she was one of the infamous “Rosie the Riveters,” working on the damaged war planes that came in after battle.

During that time she met and married Louis Notter and was blessed with her first child, Johnny Gordon. She later married Clarence “Red” Hudspeth and from that union was blessed with her second child, Gene Hudspeth.

Nadine was a strong and determined woman with a great love for her family. She raised her children on her own, depending on no one. When times were tough, she gave her children her bus fare for school lunch and proceeded to walk three miles in high heels to work so her kids would not do without.

She moved to Martin City in 1992, where she began a business at the age of 82.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugene and Katie Mae Pearcy. She is survived by her daughter Johnny Gordon, and son Gene Hudspeth; grandchildren, Christine Spring-Logan, Amber Gordon and Ehren Hudspeth; and two great-grandchildren, Kaden Logan and Naki Wugh.

The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses and aides at Whitefish Care and Rehab and a big “Thank You” to the compassionate women of Frontier Hospice.

Columbia Mortuary is taking care of the family.

“One more thing, Gram, if I hand you the remote control, would you dial this number for me? (She had a great sense of humor.)”
