COLUMBIA FALLS - Jacob Calderwood banked home a shot with 20 seconds left on Friday night to give the Columbia Falls Wildcats a 33-31 Northwestern A victory over the visiting Libby Loggers.

Those were Calderwood's only points of the game.

Columbia Falls (13-0, 4-0) led 28-17 after three quarters, but Libby came alive in the fourth.

"They went on a 14-2 run and took a 31-30 lead with 40 seconds to go," said Wildcat coach Cary Finberg.

Austin Barth scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds and Parker Johnson added 10 point for the Wildcats. Alex Cislo and James Hare each scored 10 for the Loggers.

The Wildcats were playing with a depleted lineup after a bus incident caused several senior players to be disciplined with a one-game suspension

"I was real proud of those guys (who filled in). They were put into a tough spot. We asked them to play our game and do what they were capable of doing. We thought we could win this game, but we needed those guys to step up for us and they did," Finberg said.

"Your true character shows when your back is to the wall and these kids came through. We had freshmen and sophomores and JV guys that had to step up and do it for us. A lot of them, it was their first meaningful minutes of the year."

The Wildcats who were disciplined will be back for tonight's game in Polson.

"We will see where we are at. We've got to get back into it mentally. We've got some rebuilding to do at this point," Finberg said.
