Gun-toting grandson scares burglars
The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report from a man on Dawn Drive outside Columbia Falls who said he chased would-be burglars away from his grandmother’s house with a gun.
On Haskill Basin Road near Whitefish, a man said he was barricaded inside a room and that his wife was threatening him with a “sharp hair comb.”
A woman on Pine Needle Lane reported that her son’s girlfriend threw pizza in someone’s face.
Fraud was alleged on Brunner Road outside Columbia Falls.
Medications were reportedly stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked near Third Avenue South in Martin City.
Theft of medication was also reported on U.S. 2 East where a caller said his or her co-worker was recorded stealing the medication.
Mailboxes were vandalized on Vitt Lane.
A welfare check was requested after a 7-year-old child on Political Hill in Lakeside reported being home alone. The child’s mother arrived home a short time later.
Suspicious activity was reported on Spotted Bear Road in Martin City where a man said he was threatened by a co-worker during a disagreement over plumbing.
A deputy checked on the welfare of two children living at a home on Cobbler Village that reportedly didn’t have water for more than two weeks. The children were OK.
On Foys Lake Road, the tenants of an apartment complained that the former residents left a cat behind and that it was meowing at their door.
Trespassing was alleged near U.S. 93 South near Whitefish where a caller said a neighbor’s friend keeps driving through his yard.
Someone chased a group of juveniles away from an abandoned bus near Montana 35 in Evergreen.
On Berne Road outside Columbia Falls, a caller reported seeing what was possibly a signal fire sparked by distressed hikers on a nearby hillside. A deputy spoke to the hikers, who said they were fine.
A caller on Ridgewood Drive reported that a roommate was refusing to leave and that she wouldn’t get a job.
Kalispell Police Department officers removed a man from a deli on U.S. 93 South after employees said he was pouring ammonia on his back and feet. He was told not to return.
A man on Second Avenue West found a mysterious bag behind his snowmobile. The bag, which contained medication and other items, was turned over to police.
On East California Street, a man said his former roommates gave him a bag of garbage instead of his belongings.
A man on West Idaho Street was reportedly asking customers of a nearby pharmacy to fill prescriptions for him.
After sliding into a ditch near the intersection of of Four Mile Drive and West Springcreek Road, a man accidentally locked his keys in the vehicle and was forced to stand in the cold until help arrived.
Suspicious activity was reported on Woodland Avenue where a woman said a man came to the door and asked to use her phone. An officer learned that the man had also locked his keys in his vehicle.
An officer spoke with a man sleeping outside near South Main Street and offered to let him sleep in the Kalispell Police Department lobby if he got too cold.
A noise complaint was reported by someone on College Avenue who said neighbors were having a party.
Gasoline was siphoned from a vehicle at a business on Third Avenue East.
A computer was reported stolen on Third Avenue East.
On Fifth Avenue West, an officer took a pit bull to a shelter after a caller reported that it attacked her puppy and broke its jaw.
Montana Highway Patrol trooper responded to a one-vehicle crash on U.S. 2 near mile marker 108 east of Kalispell. One woman was transported to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries after her vehicle left the roadway and struck an embankment.
Whitefish Police Department officers responded to a burglary on Bay Point Drive.
Theft was reported on East Seventh Street.
A fight was reported on Central Avenue.
