Arthur A. Lindlief, 74

Arthur A. Lindlief, 74, passed away Feb. 15, 2011, at his home in Kalispell. 

He was born on Nov. 17, 1936, in Whitefish to Frank Andrew Lindlief and Ruth Anne McConville Lindlief.

Art attended school in Whitefish, graduating in 1955. He went to Junior College at Kemper Military School in Missouri. He was a 1962 graduate of the University of Montana School of Pharmacy.

On June 24, 1961, he married Sandra Marlow, and they had four children, all born in the Flathead Valley. Arthur worked as a pharmacist in Anchorage, Alaska; Lewiston, Idaho and Missoula before purchasing Lindlief Drug on Central Avenue in Whitefish. 

He and his young family moved to Kalispell in 1973, where he owned and operated the Hindquarter Steak House and Pancho Villa’s Mexican restaurant. Later his business ventures expanded into Pancho Magoos and Nickel Charlie’s Casinos. Art enjoyed playing golf and billiards.

Art was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Ruth Lindlief; his brother, Charles “Chuck” Lindlief; son-in-law, Gary Marko; and mother-in-law, Gladys Ferree Ellensburg, who passed away in November 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandy Lindlief; and Pennijo and Ted Tompkins of Big Arm; Kelly and Dan Siblerud of Somers; Amy Marko of Covington, Wash.; Lance Arthur Lindlief of Kalispell; his grandchildren, Sierra and Logan Siblerud and Madison, Morgan and Megan Marko; and numerous other relatives. 

There will be a celebration of his life on June 26.
