A recent fundraiser hosted by the Evergreen PTO netted nearly $900.

The “Miracle Fund” asked parents and other residents of the Evergreen School District to give money rather than volunteer their time in other fundraisers.

Theresa Pitts, PTO president, asked potential donors in a letter “to donate just a dollar, or 20 dollars, or whatever you can afford to do.”

The PTO had hoped to collect $720, or $1 for every student in the Evergreen school system. Instead the fundraiser brought in $894.34, Pitts said in an e-mail to the Inter Lake.

That money will be used in several ways, she said.

Part of it will be used to support the Evergreen Fitness Team, which hosts free camps and fitness-related activities for Evergreen students. Some money will be put toward a new readerboard at Evergreen Junior High School.

“The PTO was humbled by the extraordinary response and wants to express our gratitude to all those who showed their support to the Evergreen School District by contributing to the ‘Miracle Fund,’” Pitts said.

“All donations received were appreciated and are being celebrated, no matter what the amount was.”
