High School Hoops: C-Falls sweeps Whitefish

WHITEFISH - Top-ranked Columbia Falls used sharp shooting from the free-throw line to take down rival Whitefish on Saturday.

The Wildcats made 13 of 14 free throws in the third quarter and made 24 overall in the second half en route to a 67-56 Northwestern A boys basketball victory in front of a packed crowd.

Columbia Falls had four players score in double figures, led by Parker Johnson's 16. Nick Emerson had 15, Austin Barth added 11 and Kaleb Johnson 10 for the Wildcats (8-0 overall, 3-0 in conference).

Whitefish, which made nine 3-pointers, was led by Gage Vasquez's 14 points. Cooper Olson had 11 and Kyler Blades nine for the Bulldogs (5-3, 0-2).

Columbia Falls hosts Glacier at 8 p.m. on Thursday while Whitefish travels to Flathead next Friday for an 8 p.m. contest.

LIBBY - Libby dealt Polson its first conference loss in a low-scoring Northwestern A contest.

Garrett Craig scored 13 points and Libby allowed only four Polson players to score. Louis Mohr had a game-high 17 points for the Pirates (5-3, 2-1).

James Hare had eight and Alex Cislo six for the Loggers (4-4, 2-1).

HELENA - The Crusaders had nine players contribute offensively in the team's 13th MCAA win of the season.

Josiah Sheeran, Nick Peterson and Jace Voigtlander each scored eight points for Flathead Valley Homeschool (13-2, 5-0). Logan Prier chipped in seven and Josh Jarvis and Ryland Carlson each had six.

Isaac Rajkowski, the lone FVHS player to not score, pulled down nine rebounds and had five assists.

Polson held a big edge at the free-throw line going 11-for-14. Libby was 2-for-6.

Kenney was 5-for-6 at the charity stripe and Kelley went 4-for-4.
