Bigfork wins drama; 3rd in speech meet
Bigfork High School’s speech, debate and drama competitors held their own at the Northern Class B-C Divisional Tournament Saturday.
Bigfork won the Class B drama tournament and finished third in speech. Lincoln County High School in Eureka came in second in drama, followed by Fairfield. Cut Bank won the Class B speech meet, followed by second-place Malta.
Bigfork hosted the tournament, which drew 19 Class B and C schools from the northern portion of the state.
“We did very well, I think, and the meet ran as smoothly as I could hope,” Bigfork head coach Charlie Appleby said.
Bigfork had two individual event champions. Zoe Gaiser finished first in Humorous Oral Interpretation, and Maddie Lorang was tops in Memorized Public Address.
Danielle Smith of Eureka secured a first-place slot in Humorous Solo.
Top competitors from the meet will compete this weekend at the state tournament at Broadwater High School in Townsend.
