Fireworks, arson cause two house fires
Two homes in Flathead County were extensively damaged by fires Saturday evening.
The Flathead County Sheriff's Office reported a trailer house in Lakeside was nearly destroyed in a fire that occurred around 7 p.m. Undersheriff Jordan White said preliminary indications are that it may have been arson.
A couple of hours later, a house in Bigfork caught fire, likely from fireworks that hit it, White said. While the home was not a total loss, about three-fourths of the house was destroyed, he said.
A man who lives on South Cedar Street in Evergreen was taken to the hospital around 9:30 p.m. Saturday after a firecracker mortar blew up in his hand, resulting in severe hand damage, White said.
Kalispell Police Department officers investigated a reported sighting of fugitive David Burgert at 6:59 p.m. Saturday. A caller reported seeing a man in an a 70s model pickup with a camper top parked behind an empty building on U.S. Highway 2 West. It wasn't Burgert.
Officers responded to a report of men busting windows of cars and beating on the cars parked in a lot on West Idaho Street at 8:27 p.m. Saturday. Two men were taken into custody in connection with the damages.
A woman reported an aggressive salesman who stuck his foot against her door when she opened it, making it difficult for her to close the door.
The man knocked on doors at two houses on Woodland Avenue around 2 p.m. Sunday before leaving the neighborhood after making no sales at either house.
Police were called to business on North Main Street at 6:22 p.m. Saturday to deal with a rowdy group of males from Canada who had damaged a golf cart.
Officers cited a man for possession of illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia at 3:26 p.m. Saturday.
Several items, including a weed trimmer, were reported stolen from a garage on Ninth Avenue West Sunday afternoon.
Kalispell police received reports of fireworks on Second Street West at 9:02 p.m. Saturday; on Hawthorn Avenue at 10:01 p.m.; on Empire Loop at 10:19 p.m., on Highway 93 South at 10:44 p.m., on Fifth Avenue East at 10:51 p.m., on Yellowstone Street at 11:45 p.m., at the baseball fields at 11:46 p.m. and on Sixth Avenue East at 1:37 a.m. Sunday.
Lake County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to two drug-related calls Saturday. Drug possession was reported at the Arlee powwow at 12:26 a.m. and another report of possession of illegal drugs was made at 12:59 a.m. on Michael Pablo Loop.
Items were reported stolen from a vehicle on Sixth Avenue West in Polson at 9:56 a.m. Saturday.
Criminal mischief was reported at 8:47 p.m. Saturday at the city docks boat ramp.
