WHITEFISH - Carl Talsma drove in Cody Elek with a single to center in the third inning, lifting the Glacier Twins to a 3-2 victory over Apple Valley on Saturday at the 27th annual Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial baseball tournament.

Elek reached with a double.

Talsma went 2 for 2 as the Twins totaled just three hits.

Apple Valley had five hits.

"Our record doesn't relate to the quality of baseball we have played in the tournament," Glacier coach Lindsay Fansler said.

"We are happy with our level of play. There are a lot of quality teams in this tournament. We have played some good baseball."

The tournament will end today with Kalispell facing Apple Valley, the defending champions, at 11 a.m. for third place.

Glacier will play Lethbridge at 1:30 p.m. for fifth/sixth place.

A Twins Alumni game will follow at 5 p.m.

Glacier finished third at this tournament last year.

Glacier (23-24 overall, 3-9 league) hosts Lethbridge on Friday 1 p.m., for a conference doubleheader.
