Libby defeats Mariners

LIBBY - Libby jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead and never looked back in defeating Mission Valley 7-1 Saturday at the Western A District American Legion baseball tournament.

Both teams came into the contest unbeaten in tournament play.

Alex Cislo led the Loggers offensively, going 3 for 5 and driving in a run.

Micah Germany and Alex Bluhm had two hits apiece.

Chris Herbig went the distance on the mound for the Loggers. He gave up six hits, walked one batter and struck out five.

Austin Von Tom pitched eight innings for Mission Valley. He allowed 10 hits, issued three walks, but fanned 10 batters.

Mission Valley's lone run came in the fourth inning.

In loser-out play Saturday, Kalispell stopped Glacier 11-8, Missoula eliminated the Bitterroot Bucs 11-8 and Missoula knocked out Kalispell 8-6.

Today at 10:05 a.m., Mission Valley faces Missoula in loser-out play. Libby plays at 1:05 p.m. against the winner of the 10:05 a.m. game.
