Pamela Jeanne Bushman, 65
On May 30, 2011, Pamela Jeanne Bushman “proceeded from mortality to the next world.”
Her life featured love, service and compassion. She accepted her loss of legs and lifetime of diabetes as God-given opportunities, not handicaps. With her natural pluck, she offered what she had learned in trying to succor others. Many testify that she did.
Pam was born May 18, 1946, in Salt Lake City to Betty Jean (Brown) and Warren Lewis. She spent most of her youth in Southern California. After graduating from East High School in Bakersfield, Calif., she attended college in Bakersfield and also what is now BYU-Hawaii.
On June 20, 1975, in Walnut Creek, Calif., she married Willard Martin Bushman. He asked to marry her largely because, from her childhood she had loved children and older people, and they, her. He considered such love to be central to a good character, expecting she could be neither false nor selfish if she loved others so genuinely. That proved true in her case; every year she grew more graceful.
Pam was delighted to have been entrusted with seven children and 21 grandchildren. They were drawn to her by her close attention and the skills she taught them.
Pam is survived by her husband, Willard “Bill” Bushman; brothers, Steven Warren Lewis and Vickie of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Jonathon Lyle Lewis of Boise, Idaho; a sister, Lynn Anne, and Brent Wing, of Holmen, Wis.; children, Heidi Kristina (Bushman) Robison of Kalispell, Christopher Warren Bushman and Tabitha of Denver, Joseph Martin Bushman and Katie of Dallas, Ga., and Jonathan Joshua Bushman and Rachel of Euless, Texas; her three stepchildren, Jeffrey Michael Bushman and Bonnie of Atlanta, and Meg and Carl Reinhold, and Katherine and John McLoughlin, all of West Linn, Ore.
Graveside services for Pam will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, June 2, at Glacier Memorial Gardens on U.S. 93 North, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1380 Whitefish Stage Road, in Kalispell, with Bishop Mark Robison officiating. Viewing will be from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 1, in the Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Chapel.
