Jean Margie Logan, 85

| June 9, 2011 2:00 AM

Jean Margie Logan, 85, passed away June 5, 2011, from complications of COPD.

Jean was a true “Jersey Girl” to the end. She had resided at The Springs in Whitefish since she relocated from Great Falls in the fall of 2009.

Jean was born June 1, 1926, in Elizabeth, N.J., the youngest of two children. Jean spent much of her life in Cranford, N.J. and attended Cranford High.

She married Lancelot Logan in 1943 in Elizabeth, N.C., just before the U.S. Navy deployed him for several years of overseas duty. One son was born, Lance, in 1946. The war-time marriage did not survive.

Jean worked all her life to support and raise her son. Her employment began at Boyle Midway in Cranford. She also worked for Kraft Foods, Phelps Dodge and Schering Plough Pharmaceuticals, all in New Jersey. Jean was also employed by Raytheon Corp. in California and the Great Falls Food Bank.

Jean was an avid reader and a beautiful knitter and seamstress. Jean didn't provide everything her son wanted, but she did provide him with everything he needed. She was a very proud mother.

Jean moved to Montana in the 1980s to help raise her three young grandchildren in Great Falls.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert L. and Margaret E. Loderstedt; and her brother, Robert L. Loderstedt.

She is survived by her son, Lance F. Logan of Bigfork; grandchildren, Layne J. Logan of Cut Bank, Lucas K. Logan of Billings and Lindsey C. Logan of Bozeman; nephew, Robert L. Loderstedt, and niece, Judith Loderstedt Mack, both of New Jersey, and Carol Anne Cawley Weshnak of N.J.

A celebration of life will be held for Jean at 3 p.m. Friday, June 10, at The Springs, 1001 River Lakes Parkway, Whitefish.

Memorials may be made to Frontier Hospice, 29 Second St. E., Kalispell, MT 59901, or to your local animal shelter.
