Melba Fern Cowan Heinzen, 87
On June 11, 2011, at Immanuel Lutheran Home, Melba, our beloved mother and grandmother, “went to be with her father Jake, mother Fanny, sisters Lila and Gladys, brother Benny, husband Ray, daughter Jennifer, great-granddaughters Daphne, Jesse and Logan, and son Leo who is MIA from this world.”
Melba was born March 18, 1924, in Vega, Texas, on a cattle ranch and played on the prairies of Texas until moving to Everett, Wash., and meeting the love of her life, Ray Heinzen.
Our mother was a homemaker, and she took great pride in her homemaking. Our mother valued cooking and cleaning, and sewing. She was a person easy to talk to. She loved to read, watch movies, travel, art, music and quilting.
Melba was devoted to her Catholic beliefs and to her Catholic church.
She loved, cried and laughed over and with all her eight children. Her grandchildren were her gifts of love and great-grandchildren were “God’s angels.”
She is survived by sons, Ray, Jack and Clay, all of Washington, and David of Idaho; and daughters, Cathree of Washington and Pauletta of Montana.
A celebration of Melba’s life will be held at a later date, and will be posted then.
