Lawrence 'Larry' James Ingvalson, 62
Lawrence “Larry” James Ingvalson, 62, passed away on June 27, 2011, in Kalispell.
Larry was born Feb. 9, 1949, in Great Falls to Kathleen (Carriers) and L.J. Ingvalson. He was raised on Smelter Hill in Black Eagle, where his dad was the manager of Anaconda Copper Mining Company. His father died in 1965 and the family moved to Anaconda from Black Eagle.
Larry attended St. Mary's Grade School in Great Falls. It was there he met his future wife, Trish, in second grade. He attended Central Catholic High School for two years and then graduated from Anaconda Central in 1967. He served in the Army in Vietnam from 1967 to1969.
Patricia Ciba and Larry Ingvalson were married July 10, 1982, at St. Catherine's Catholic Church in Bigfork. They have resided in Kalispell since 1982.
Larry was employed as a surveyor by the Forest Service, and spent many years as a sawyer. He worked at a hardware store and a paint store, and was a forestry student at Flathead Valley Community College.
Larry enjoyed just being in the woods, as his hobbies, trapping, hunting, camping and NRA membership would indicate. Other interests included reading and music, especially Merle Haggard, Neil Young and Frank Sinatra. Larry was happiest when spending time with his wife, Trish, and son, Larry.
Larry was preceded in death by his father, L.J. Ingvalson; and a nephew, Kent Houseman.
Larry is survived by his wife, Patricia Ingvalson, and son, Larry Ingvalson, both of Kalispell; his mother, Kathleen Ingvalson of Great Falls; brothers, Joe Ingvalson and his wife, Sophia, of Great Falls, and Bobby Ingvalson and his wife, Polly, of Prosser, Wash.; three sisters, Annie Sloughter and husband, Dan, of Greenville, S.C., Pattie Lodahl and husband, Steve, of Helena, and Mary Houseman and husband, Roy, of Great Falls; and many nieces and nephews.
Larry's cause of death was a cancerous brain tumor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the UW Foundation, in care of the Neurological Surgery Brain Tumor Research Fund. Mass of Christian Burial for Lawrence will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 2, at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. There will be a rosary on Friday evening at 6 p.m. at Johnson-Gloschat Funeral Home. Urn burial will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery.
