Catherine Elva 'Kay' Anderson, 82

Catherine Elva “Kay” Anderson, 82, passed away on Sunday, Feb. 27, 2011, after a courageous battle with cancer at her home in Kalispell, with her daughter and loved ones at her side. 

Kay was born Jan. 4, 1929, in Minneapolis, to Gunnard and Ambjorg (Dahl) Carlson.

Kay moved to Kalispell in the early ‘50s, where she met the love of her life. She married Ralph Anderson on Dec. 19, 1953. Kay and Ralph then cooked for the Forest Service. After their daughter Saundra “Sandy” was born, Kay became a homemaker and stay-at-home mom.

Kay loved crafts, sewing, crocheting and baking wonderful treats for her family, especially at Christmas time. She also did a lot of baby-sitting, and along with her daughter, raised many children. Kay was loved by many people and will truly be missed.

Kay is survived by her daughter, Saundra “Sandy” Goodwin, and her husband, Roger; grandchildren, Justin Ulrich, Angela and Judd Nyberg, Andi and Jake Loveless, Jason Goodwin and Logan Goodwin; great-grandchildren, Katie Ulrich, Emma and Ava Nyberg, and Okaley Loveless; and great-great-granddaughter, Isabella Jade Ulrich.

Kay was preceded in death by her mother, Ambjorg Dahl Carlson; father, Gunnard Carlson; husband, Ralph F. Anderson; sister, Amy Koval; and great-granddaughter, Jade Ulrich.

The family suggests that contributions be made in Kay's name to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 1002, Kalispell, MT 59903; or directly to Kay's family at 157 North Riding Road Kalispell, MT 59901.

Services for Kay will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 4, at the Easthaven Baptist Church, 1225 U.S. 93 N., Kalispell, MT 59901.
