Glacier National Park managers are seeking several dedicated volunteers to help monitor air quality.

Volunteers will assist and supplement park staff by collecting and downloading data from a site near park headquarters, calibrating equipment and performing data entry and other administrative duties.

Training will be provided.

Potential volunteers would be asked to commit to one to two days per week and four to eight hours each day worked.

These positions will last at least four to six months, depending on a volunteer’s availability.

Air quality monitoring at Glacier Park is a long-term program that has been in place for decades. The information collected is important in furthering park managers’ knowledge of air quality and promoting resource conservation in Glacier.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Glacier fisheries biologist Chris Downs at 888-7917 or chris_downs@nps.gov or natural resources program manager Mark Biel at 888-7919; mark_biel@nps.gov.
