Karen M. Schaeffer, 42

Karen M. Schaeffer, 42, a resident of Columbia Falls, “entered into rest” on the evening of Feb. 26, 2011, after a long, courageous battle with cancer.

She worked as a school custodian in Columbia Falls for the last 19 years. She was also certified in massage and reflexology. Karen enjoyed softball, hiking, boating and spending time with family and friends.

She was born May 29, 1968, in Kalispell to Glenna and Vincent Schaeffer. 

She is survived by her mother, Glenna Schaeffer of Columbia Falls; her son, Steven Goe of Columbia Falls; her two daughters, Jana Goe and Malory Schaeffer-Leighty, both of Columbia Falls; her brothers, Gary Schaeffer of Casa Grande, Ariz., and David Schaeffer of Columbia Falls; and her sisters, Jeanette Kosnoff of Martin City, Paulette Schaeffer of Billings, Diana Schaeffer of Kalispell, Dorothea Schaeffer of Kalispell, Teresa Schaeffer of Columbia Falls, Betty Schaeffer of Coram and Helen Samples of Kalispell.

A memorial service for Karen will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 12, at Christ Lutheran Church, 5150 River Lakes Parkway, in Whitefish. A light luncheon will follow.

Columbia Mortuary in Columbia Falls is assisting the family.
