Flathead Valley Community College was awarded a $60,126 Acce$$ Grant from the Student Assistance Foundation at the college’s board of trustees meeting Feb. 28.

College President Jane Karas accepted the check presented by Student Assistance Foundation Outreach Manager Liz Foster.

“We are grateful for the Student Assistance Foundation’s continued support,” Karas said.

The foundation provides grants to Montana colleges and universities to assist students who face barriers to continuing their education.

Last year, FVCC received a $58,553 Acce$$ Grant that funded 87 awards for students to help with child-care expenses.

Based in Helena, the Student Assistant Foundation is a nonprofit corporation whose mission is to provide students with the knowledge and tools to finance and pursue their postsecondary education.  Since the program’s inception in 2000, the organization has awarded $351,146 to FVCC.
