Giant gorilla (balloon) on the loose

The Kalispell Police Department received a report Friday morning after a large, inflatable gorilla was stolen from in front of the Kalispell City Mall. The caller reported that the theft would have required a lot of work, as the gorilla was large, staked to the ground and would have had to be deflated before someone could steal it.

A man was cited for theft Friday at about 9 a.m. after the owner of a vehicle on West California Street saw him in the driver’s seat going through the glove box. The owner later reported that items were also stolen from a second vehicle.

A man was told not to return to a bar on Airport Road after he was kicked out and then attempted to fight a bouncer late Thursday night.

Officers arrested a man for negligent vehicular assault after he allegedly struck someone with a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex on North Meridian Road at about 9:30 a.m. Friday. The victim sustained what was described as a substantial head wound and was taken to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

A license plate and a carburetor were reported stolen at a business on East Idaho Street. The theft was captured by surveillance cameras.

Two women were arrested after a report of drug use on Fifth Street West Friday afternoon.

Mailboxes on Ashley Creek Lane were open and empty Friday afternoon, according to several reports of criminal mischief.

A possible sexual assault of a young girl was reported.

A bicyclist on First Avenue West reported being harassed by the driver of a gray Buick Century.

A young skateboarder took off before an officer could speak to him on Second Street West.

Suspicious activity was reported on Teal Drive, where someone noticed that transients were apparently living in a foreclosed home.

A report of 10 boys fighting in Woodland Park Friday at about 5 p.m. was incorrect. An officer learned the boys were playing, not fighting.

A man on Airport Road said his wife of two weeks scratched him in the face during an argument.

A bicycle was reported stolen at a business on Airport Road but was later found in a different area of the business.

Two youths were seen on a roof near Second Avenue West. They were gone when an officer responded.

Officers arrested a man at a business on Woodland Park Drive at about 1:45 a.m. Saturday after he allegedly broke a window.

A woman driving a Ford Taurus reportedly drove into a garage door at an apartment complex on North Meridian Road at about 2:20 a.m. Friday. Responding officers couldn’t find her.

Suspicious activity was reported on West Arizona Street near the fairgrounds Friday morning when a caller saw a vehicle high-centered on a log.

On Third Avenue West, a caller reported that a neighbor was allowing a dog to defecate on his or her lawn.

The Flathead County Sheriff’s Office received a report of assault on Electric Avenue in Bigfork, where a man said his ex-wife hit him in the back and head while he was dropping off their daughter.

Theft was reported by a resident of U.S. 2 East in Evergreen.

A physical disturbance was reported on Rockwood Road.

Someone complained about noise on Harmony Road in Evergreen and Bierney Creek Road in Lakeside.

Child abuse was alleged on Shady Lane.

Harassment was alleged by callers on Frontage Road outside Columbia Falls and Swan River Road near Bigfork.

A report of a vicious animal was made by someone on Liahona Lane outside Kalispell.

The Whitefish Police Department was called about a stolen vehicle on Birch Hill Drive.

Fraud was reported on Spokane Avenue.

Disorderly conduct was alleged on Central Avenue.

Someone reported a burglary on Eighth Avenue East North in Columbia Falls.

Theft was reported on Central Avenue.

Injuries were reported after Montana Highway Patrol troopers responded to a crash on Eli Gap Road near the intersection of Paulson Road in Lake County.

A traffic hazard was reported on Montana 35 near mile marker 38.
