Beer thief flees - without the brew

Flathead County Sheriff's deputies cited a man for shoplifting Sunday after he walked out of a grocery store on U.S. 2 in Evergreen with beer. The man ended up dropping the beer before running away and getting caught.

A woman called with questions about the statute of limitations for animal cruelty, because her son killed her cat at an Evergreen residence where she no longer lives.

Skis were reported stolen at the Whitefish Mountain Resort.

A woman was detained at a Woodacres Drive residence in Lakeside for a mental-health evaluation at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.

A man calling from Prairie View Road reported that his stepson has been threatening him and his wife because they have a lien against the stepson's vehicle.

A woman calling from U.S. 2 West in the Kila area reported that a neighbor's cat ran into her house and bit and clawed her husband.

There was a report from Stillwater Road regarding an iPod being stolen from a vehicle.

A woman called from East Evergreen Drive to report that her ex-roommate kicked in a door and took some of the caller's possessions.

There was a report of an intoxicated man causing a disturbance, and possibly abusing his girlfriend at a bar on Montana 35 in Evergreen.

Kalispell Police got a report from the 400 block of Ninth Avenue West Sunday regarding a flooded basement and the road sinking in some spots, possibly due to a broken water main. The city water department was dispatched to the scene.

There was a report of a vehicle being keyed on the 1400 block of Third Avenue East.

A patient at the Kalispell hospital's emergency room had marijuana among his belongings, prompting it to be seized as evidence. The man had his medical marijuana card, however, and later was able to pick up his weed at the police station.

There was a report of the Chamber of Commerce building on Depot Loop being vandalized sometime during the weekend.

There was a report of a woman wearing a white robe and acting very strangely at a store on U.S. 93 North. An officer ended up detaining the woman and taking her to the Kalispell hospital for an evaluation.

A woman calling from the 400 block of Second Avenue East reported that her ex-boyfriend was attempting to break into her home. The man later was located and escorted back to the residence so he could collect some belongings with an officer present.
